The Palace Of Surosowan

A square-shaped Castle 3 acres of it almost flat to the ground, hard pressed to imagine what sort of form the Surosowan Palace stood before it was demolished by the Government of Netherlands under Daendels in November 1808. The battle occurred because of the Sultanate of Banten refused to deploy its people for forced labor in the manufacture of road Anyer-Panarukan.

Surosowan Palace built in 1526 under the leadership of Maulana Hasanuddin and the Prince defeated the Kingdom after Fatahillah Pajajaran and took their capital, Banten Girang. The son of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, Maulana Yusuf, reinforcing the fortress with rocks and Red stone. Surrounding the citadel built trenches reportedly were able to navigate the small boats to get to the Java Sea.
The Surosowan Palace itself was built baths named Roro Denok bentuknyanya remnants that can still be seen clearly enough until now. In the middle of the pond there is a rectangular building called the Bale kambang.

The water in the bath comes from a Lake Tasik Ardi where before dialairkan to an experienced process of rarefaction Denok Roro three levels in advance by way of a streamed to the pengindelan building (rarefaction) red, white and gold. Look at all that has been able to master the murky water processing technologies become viable water use.
Another interesting thing on it is a Roro Denok bath shower of gold. Shower which is actually made of copper and gold that were not commonly used for bathing and also officials of the Kingdom. So the name kondangnya Mas Showers so people are convinced that the shower is made of gold. It's not strange when the Sultanate of Banten collapsed, there was looting and all the showers were taken all due probably counted made of gold.

During the reign of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, to beautify the Palace Surosowan hired experts from Portugal and the Netherlands, among them Hendrik Lucasz Cardeel. The Fort was strengthened and dipojok-pojoknya Palace built in a semicircular building bastion, with soldiers firing holes lurk and shoot the enemies. Art Deco high at mas it can also be seen from the rest of the red tile that was installed with the composition of the Rhombus.
Although in general the Palace Surosowan arguably almost flat to the ground but the rest of the fortress there are buildings, provide sufficient own story will be kokohnya defense of the Palace. The walls of the Fort which is composed of two parts (inner and outer) and thickness of each of the 1-meter and 3-meter separation distance, filled with solid ground as a binder.

The fortress was formed from bricks by size generally is 15 x 30 cm, with lime and sand as pengikatnya. With such strong fortifications, the Palace of Surosowan can imagine just how fierce the battle happened to just left behind the remains of buildings that are dangerously close to the ground. However the war indeed many disastrous to mankind with its civilization.
